Preliminary Activity 2

For this project we were given more basic instructions, we were to construct a plan shot by shot of a Chase Sequence on excel before filming anything. I now understand that this is essential as going out and not knowing what to film would not easy. We planned the Chase Sequence using the same areas as before action of the shot, speech, shot type, shot length and the location, this is the document: Project 2. This may differ from the video slightly as I leart that alterations have to be made to A) help the sequence run smoother and B) account for the amount of film taken, for example 5 seconds on the sheet and you only have 3 seconds of footage because someone walked faster than intended.

Our continuity issues were solved in this making sure that as it had to be filmed over 2 lessons the characters wore the same clothes, and that when an action match was used, for example when the chaser takes her jumper off and put's it over her arm, it stayed on the correct arm. A tripod was also used to steady the shot but this wasn't always a good choice of equipment as when the characters run past, the shot is a jerky as the camera was unable to be loosened enough so that shot could run smoothly.

Overall we are quite pleased with this video and how it turned out as it is all of our own work. There is definately areas to improve on and the idea of a film trailer is now a bit more appealing than before.
