The music at the start is eerie, with there being a soundbridge lasting 4 seconds, it is the child taling along with the eerie music. The eerie music and the child talking starts off being non-degetic, but when to boy comes into view a couple of seconds later the sound of the child talking turns into diegetic. Within the soundbridge there is 5 shots, the first 3 of the shots were company linked, showing which companies made them, these are only on for a second each just so we can read them, they then move onto a 1 second establishing shot which fades into inside the house. Then the shots tend to move quite quickly but in a calm sort of way, there is then a non-diegetic sound sting when there is the realisation of the mother that something isn't right, this is accompanied by a close up of her face with this shot there is creepy childish laugh. The childish laugh is really quite creepy, it is essential that they chose the correct laugh otherwise the effect is lost. There is then another sound sting, this time a non-diegetic scream in timing with the shot, a man abruptly turning around, he then talks back and the screen fades to black. The editing between these shots is fast with the screen fading to black for a split second between each one. The sound is not completely non-diegetic, it is not quite music, not quite a sound effect, it builds tension. Copy appears on the screen and it has an effect applied on it, “Within these walls”. The narration is done as though it is diegetic but because we cannot see the woman at the time it is non-diegetic, “There is something in the house”, tells us its unsafe, then more copy appears in the screen “Lies an Evil”, this carries on and tells to story from the last copy, when you put it altogether it sort of narrates it along with the speech. The next set of shots involve a door opening, it involves lots of close ups and the editing is fast, with the door opening there is the sound effect that accompanies it and then the lady says “I’m so scared” in a frightened voice. In the background there is still the sound which builds tension. “Beyond our world” is the next copy. Along with the tension building sound the man now speaks “ I am seeing bad things”, it is not just what they say, it is how they say it, the man speaks in a low, husky tone. The shot then flashes negative. There is now fast speech “What if the mirrors can actually make us do things we don’t want to do”, this non-diegetic speech is so fast compared to the other speech, it is in speed with the editing, the pace gets faster as does the editing, panicking the audience or alerting the audience to the character’s panic. The actors name’s start to appear, they have to same effect applied to them as the story-telling copy. The man then shouts "Get out of here now" and the music comes to a close, and the creepy laugh of a child plays again along with the sound of glass/ a mirror breaking as the title of the film appears on the screen "MIRRORS", this also has a mirrored effect applied to it. The next shot is of the mother and the child and the child voice is used as a sound bridge as the shots fade in, he says "Don't be scared mummy they just want to come play with us" there is an effect applied to the child voice at the end which distorts in and give the impression the child cannot be trusted. There now a sweeping sound sting as the child is taken. The screen fades to black and the details appear giving the day of release, the company producers and the website, all with the same mirrored effect applied.
