In our group we have discussed the different genres and have decided Horror would be the best genre to go with, mainly because it most interesting, we know most about this genre and there are many different types of genre.
In choosing this genre we looked at a few different aspects of horror as a genre.
Abjection- those excluded from mainstream. In horror film abjected/repressed person/thing is usually the object of horror.
Purity and danger - (Anthropologist Mary Douglas) The theory that humans feel the need to categorise things, in this case aspects of horror, for example good and evil. Things which are not categorised such as objects of abjection/rejection are those that are scariest.
